Development Begins!


It's about time we started getting the word out. We have been going over the basic design of Cellfish for about a month now and we are starting development in earnest. We will be updating the devlogs as we work on the project and are planning a beta release at the beginning of July.

Below is our first development log. announcing the basic idea of the game and how we arrived at our current design. Enjoy!


Basic Idea

The game will be a 2D puzzle platformer about cells, you will control multiple cells at the same time and  need to solve puzzles that way.

You will be a cell attempting to break out of a lab, each level you will attempt to get to the pressure plate on the other end with a particular type of cell.

Engine

We decided to use Unity because we mainly want to use this project to learn about the development process and how to release a game. So we wanted a simple engine so we could just get stuck in.

What we have so far

  • The ability to control cells with the same input
  • 5 different cell types
  • A few simple levels
  • 2D lighting and shadows
  • Main menu
  • Pressure plates
  • Acid and spikes!
